How to Fix Apple Watch Not Pairing With Peloton

If you cannot use your Bike+ app from your Apple Watch, don’t worry, the problem is common among Peloton users.

Several complaints have been about Apple Watches not pairing with Peloton; most of these issues started after the most recent Plenton software update. If your Apple Watch no longer pairs or connects with your Peloton Bike+, if you cannot use your Apple Watch as a heart rate monitor on your Peloton Bike+, don’t worry; this article contains helpful information to help resolve this issue.

Note: Peloton support is aware of this issue, and has claimed that their technical team is working to fix it, so we expect things to be better in the next update, but if you can’t wait for the next update, here’s how to fix it yourself.

How To Fix an Apple Watch That Won’t pair With a Peloton Bike

Fix Apple Watch Not Pairing With Peloton

The solutions listed below are the most straightforward solutions to more technical solutions.

Restart the Peloton

This is the first step as soon as you notice that your Peloton is not connecting with your Apple Watch. All you need to do is the power button at the back of your screen; you will see different options; choose “Shut Down.” Wait for some time, then power the bike back on. Try connecting again to the SmartWatch.

Restart the Watch

There’s also a good chance the fault is from the watch, not Peloton. Try a force restart for your Apple Watch by pressing and holding the Digital Crown and side button for about fifteen seconds, don’t release until you see the Apple logo. After the watch is back on, try connecting again.

Toggle Gym Detection Settings on Watch and Restart the Watch

Go to the Settings app on your watch, go all the way down to the section named “Workout” it is located at the bottom, next you’ll see “Detect Gym Equipment,” turn it off, then exit settings.

Once you turn it off, wait for a minute or more, the force restarts the watch using the step above. Go back to the settings and turn on the Detect Gym Equipment. Once you have done this, try pairing the two devices again.

Toggle Gym Detection, Clear Cache of Watch The Calibrate Bike

This is a more technical solution compared to the previous ones, but it stands a better chance of working if the above ones don’t work.

Although from a glance, doing a calibration might be considered counter-intuitive as one of the steps above requires recalibration. However, the entire process is a firmware update.

Before you embark on this process, ensure you have already tried recalibrating your bike; if that doesn’t work, then you can go ahead.

The first step is to turn off your watch’s Detect Gym Equipment option. Go to settings, then workout, detect gym equipment, and turn it off.

The next step is to clear the cache of your Bike+. This step has proven to work for other Bluetooth-related issues.

Clearing the cache is simple, go to Settings, then Device Settings, then Apps once in-app, tap on Peloton, go to Storage, then finally Clear Cache. However, this setting changes occasionally, so visit Peloton’s support page for the latest instructions on how to go about it. Clearing cache will not lead to data loss.

After clearing your cache and carrying out a reboot, you can go ahead and recalibrate the Bike+.

Here’s how to go about it:

  • Go to the settings app just at the top right corner of the screen
  • Once it opens, go to device settings
  • Then “Home Installation”
  • You will see a large icon that states “Start Calibration” click on it
  • Once you click on start Calibrate, a new firewall will download automatically, and the bike will recalibrate
  • A notification will pop up telling you to click on done, do it.
  • Go back to the settings app and turn on the Detect Gym Equipment
  • Once again, try to pair the Peloton Bike+ with your Apple Watch

Make sure you follow the steps one at a time; this should solve your connection issue; if it doesn’t, then try uninstalling and reinstalling the apps on your bike.

Uninstall and Reinstall the Peloton App On The Bike

If all steps listed above still don’t work, uninstall and reinstall Bike+ and try again. The good news is that even after uninstalling the app; you will not lose your data.

Final Thoughts
