Connecting your Airpods to your Vizio TV – What you should know

Connecting Airpods to Vizio TV

You might have difficulty pairing the gadgets when connecting your Airpods to your Vizio TV. Most Vizio TVs do not have an inbuilt Bluetooth connectivity. Even the few that do, possess the low-energy Bluetooth to Bluetooth LE version, which can only be used to connect the TV to the Smartcast app.

Vizio TVs have a Bluetooth LE model, while the Apple AirPods use the Bluetooth version AAC/SBC. So what happens when you want to connect your Airpods to a Vizio smart TV?

As expected, the connection is not straightforward. You will need to bypass a third-party mode. Do not worry, I have provided two methods on how to connect your Airpods to Vizio TV successfully. The methods are pretty simple and will not take much of your time.

However, if you have a newer version of the Vizio TV, you can connect your Airpods following steps below:

  • Set your Airpods to Pairing mode by pressing the sync button on the charging case till the LED indicator turns white.
  • Use your TV remote to navigate to the TV’s settings.
  • Select sound output and go to the speaker list.
  • Search and select your Airpods from the list.
  • Pair and connect successfully.

There is little to no guarantee that the above method will work for your Vizio TV. If you can’t connect your Airpods to your Vizio TV directly, you can use either of the two methods below:

This is probably the best method for indirectly connecting your Airpods to your Vizio TV. You can use Apple TV to connect your Airpods to your Vizio TV by following the steps below:

  • Set your Airpods to pairing mode by pressing and holding the sync button on the back of your AirPods charging case until the LED indicator turns white.
  • Go to your Apple TV and locate settings.
  • Select remotes and devices.
  • Click on Bluetooth.
  • Your AirPods should pop up while you conclude the pairing process.

You can now enjoy audio output on your Airpods.

How to Connect your AirPods to your Vizio TV Using  a Bluetooth Transmitter

Since both products are likely to have different versions of Bluetooth embedded in them, the go-to alternative is a Bluetooth transmitter, as it is quite cheap and easy to use.

What Is a Bluetooth Transmitter?

A Bluetooth transmitter adds Bluetooth to a device or gadget that lacks or does not support Bluetooth connectivity. Unlike the Bluetooth receiver that receives Bluetooth signals, a transmitter sends signals out.

In simple terms, a Bluetooth transmitter adds Bluetooth audio capability to your non-Bluetooth devices. Interestingly, Bluetooth transmitters can support up to two devices simultaneously, allowing you to share the experience with a partner.

If you want to connect your Airpods to your Vizio TV through a Bluetooth transmitter, these steps below will guide you:

  • Plug the transmitter at the back of your TV through an auxiliary, optical, or coaxial port.
  • Set your Airpods to pairing mode.
  •  Pair and connect your Airpod with the transmitter.
  • Enjoy and stream your audio in comfort.

The Sound of my Airpods is Lagging (Sound Doesn’t Sync With Video). How do  I fix it?

There probably isn’t a straightforward solution to this. This is usually due to additional sound processing.

Your soundbar has to interpret audio from the TV before it produces sound since soundbars are Bluetooth output devices, hence the lagging. It encodes to Bluetooth format, transmits, and decodes back.

Your Vizio TV and AirPods are most definitely using different Bluetooth codecs, which might cause significant audio lag when you use your AirPods.

Can I Use Bluetooth Headphones with a Vizio TV?

If the sound from your Vizio smart TV is not audible, you could pair the TV with your Bluetooth headphones, either directly or by using a Bluetooth transmitter.

Does a Vizio TV have an Audio Jack?

Yes, most VIZIO TVs have an inbuilt headphone jack. If your TV possesses an analog audio port, you can buy a third-party adapter that will convert the port into a headphone port for use.
