Streaming platforms and devices like Roku give you access to see your favorites shows. Each platform has distinct features and subscription levels. But what happens when you decide to discontinue viewing on a device? You can simply sign out.
Most streaming platforms allow users to sign out of their account on a device(s) with ease. Also, they can quickly sign in whenever they choose to continue viewing. Roku is one of such platforms, and this article will be recommending ways to sign out of a Roku account on Tv.
What is a Roku Account?
Roku is a central streaming platform that allows users to have access to their favorite content. Users can access over 50,0000 movies and TV episodes which are available in both free and paid plans. However, to have access to these shows, you must have a Roku account.
Your account is similar to an ID that gives you access to whatever you want to watch available on the platform. Also, there is no bypassing the platform as you can only have access to use a Roku TV or Roku device by logging into your Roku account.
Once you create and log into your Roku account, the platform automatically stores your setting, the applications, and the channels you have purchased.
Reasons for Signing Out Roku Account
There are tons of reasons why you might want to sign out your Roku account on your Tv. However, selling Roku devices is one of the prominent reasons people sign out of their accounts.
Luckily, when you sign out of your Roku device, the operating system will not shut down your account. The same applies to all your subscriptions; they will become active once you sign in again.
You can always login in on another device, and your purchases will instantly become active.
Two Ways to Sign out of Your Roku Account
There are different ways to sign out of your Roku account; below are some of them:
1. Sign out using a smart device
You can sign out of your Roku account by logging into the Roku site from your smart devices (phone, tablet, laptop, etc.).
Proceed to sign in to your Roku account, then enter the email and passwords of your Roku account. Your Roku account will be automatically logged in once you input the correct login details.
Once you are logged in, navigate your cursor to the end of the page; you will see a list of devices that are logged in.
Click on the device you want to sign out of from the list of connected devices and unlink it.
Once you do this, your account will automatically be signed out of the device.
Note that to access Roku on that device, you will need a new Roku account or sign in your details again.
2. Factory Reset
If you do not want to go through the first recommendation, you can do a factory reset on your Roku account.
A factory reset will delete all your information in the Roku account.
You will need your Roku remote or the button on your Roku device to initiate this process.
Below is a step-by-step guide on how to use your Roku remote to do a factory reset on your account:
- Click on the home page on your Roku remote
- Navigate down on your TV screen and click on setting
- Click on systems and then advanced system settings
- Once you are on this page, click on Factory Reset
- Then click “Reset All Factories.”
Once you click on reset all factories, your Roku device will reset, and the programming system will erase all your data.
Alternatively, as mentioned above, you can use the button on your Roku device to do a factory reset.
All you need to do is long-press the button for 20 seconds and then initiate a factory reset. Note that once the factory reset is complete, your device setting will be at default.
Signing out from your Roku account is not the same as canceling or deactivating your account.
While signing out your account takes you off the device, deactivating your account permanently takes you off the platform.
You can always sign out of your account and sign in at ease with the process mentioned above.
