How To Turn Off Audio Description on Netflix

Netflix remains one of the most important streaming services in the world. This popular streaming service has numerous movies, TV shows, and dramas in its archive ready to be viewed by its copious users.

To ensure that everyone has access to this service, Netflix is made available on various devices like TV, tablets, and mobile phones. Little wonder it has the highest number of subscribers among streaming service providers. 

However, as great as this streaming service is, one of the problems that users often complain about is the audio description feature. 

What is Audio Description?

Audio description is a narration that describes the scene in a play or movie. This feature is enhanced on the Netflix streaming service to provide narration for a movie or TV show. It often happens when you are streaming a video on the app. It narrates what is happening in the movie or TV show you are streaming. 

When seeing a movie or TV show, the audio description feature starts working immediately. Please note that this feature could be useful for some audiences like seniors and people with disabilities.

However, some of us simply do not need an audio description. In fact, it can be outright annoying! But since this feature has been programmed to work automatically, you can’t control it when it starts displaying on the screen. 

This explains why most Netflix users prefer to turn off the audio description feature. Interestingly, despite this feature being programmed to work automatically, there is still a way to turn it off. We will explain how in this blog. 

How to turn off Audio Description on Netflix

Step One

Open Netflix on your device. Whether you are using a Netflix app or webpage, please open it and scroll to the setting from the home screen. Navigate to the section of General Settings and click on Accessibility. 

Step Two

Find the Audio description in the settings and click on it. Once you click on the Audio description, you will see a toggle. Click on the toggle to turn it off. When you do this, you disable the Audio Description on the streaming service provider. 

Step Three

After doing that:

• Go back to the home page.
• Look for any movie or TV show of your choice.
• Click on it to start playing.

Once the video is playing, click on any area of the screen. Some options will pop up. Click on the dialogue button. The dialogue button is usually found at the top right corner of the screen. 

Step Four

After clicking on the dialogue button, scroll to the Audio option to ensure that the video doesn’t have an audio description. If it doesn’t have an audio description, that means the feature has been turned off. 

Step Five

Click on done and continue seeing the movie to ensure that the new settings are saved on the streaming service.
