Over the years, technology has become a game-changer in all spheres of life. It has simplified our way of life and changed our orientation towards many things. One of the aspects technology has impacted immensely is the Television industry in general.
With the rollout of smart TVs, the way we consume media has changed positively. From the comfort of our home, we can conveniently watch our favourite shows and movies on the TV.
With a smart TV, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Amazon Prime, etc., are easily accessible. The good thing is, with the likes of Samsung, LG, Hisense, etc., most of these apps come pre-installed on the smart TV, while others you will have to download.
And like with every software and application, there are always updates that come in from the developers. Usually, these updates are to fix bugs, add features, etc. So, how do you update apps on a Samsung TV?
An Overview of Samsung TV
Samsung is a household name as the brand makes some of the best screens globally. Over the years, the brands have continued to roll out different smart TV models, and each has its distinct feature. One of the most peculiar features akin to all Samsung smart TV is the integration of apps and the ability to download more applications.
Your Samsung TV is functional when both the software and applications on it are up to date. And like how crucial it is to update the Samsung TV software, the same applies to the applications on the TV.
However, over time, some of these apps on the TV will no longer be compatible with the latest operating system updates. Note that this is normal, and usually, there are always updates to these apps to make them compatible. With a stable internet connection, both the software and application on your TV should be up and running.
Updating Apps on Samsung TV
Generally, with all apps, there are usually periodic updates to them. And when it comes to updating the applications on your Samsung TV, there are two ways. Automatic and manual Update.
The automatic Update is a seamless process as it does not require much effort from you. Unfortunately, not all apps can be updated automatically; hence you will have to update them manually.
How to Automatically Update Apps on Samsung TV
The easiest way to update the apps on your Samsung TV is to set them to update automatically. The process is similar to how your phone, computer, or Samsung software searches for updates whenever you power it on. Alternatively, you can set a specific period for an update.
With an automatic update, you do not have to worry about regularly checking for available updates or fearing your apps going out of date. Below is a guide on how to carry out an automatic update on the apps on your Samsung TV:
Press the Smart Hub or Home button on your Samsung TV remote

Select the Apps option from the Menu
Proceed to click on My Apps
Select Options from the next Menu
Then turn on Auto Update
With the steps above, the apps on your Samsung TV will stay updated automatically. Unfortunately, there is a downside to this method. The downside is that whenever you power on your TV, there will be a short delay to access the Smart Hub.
This delay is to run a check for any available update quickly, and usually, you will see a prompt on your TV screen with the message – Your Smart Hub is currently updating and is unavailable. Don’t fret; the message will disappear within a minute.
